A PRAYER by MABEL ROSE LEVY

First Line: BE PATIENT, LORD, AND SUFFER US AWHILE
Last Line: AND TAKE US TO ETERNAL LIFE WITH THEE.
Subject(s): PRAYER;

Be patient, Lord, and suffer us awhile,
Help us to set our feet upon the way
That leads to Thee. Keep us from grievous sin
And cleanse our hearts from love of self. We pray
For grace to learn humility -- to learn
To turn the other cheek. It is so hard
To purge our souls of prejudice, dear Lord!
Be with us everywhere, and when at last
Our fight is won, our souls from sin set free --
Then give us fortitude to face the end,
And take us to eternal life with Thee.
