THE LOST CHORD by DOMINIC BEVAN WYNDHAM LEWIS

First Line: SEATED ONE DAY AT THE ORGAN / I JUMPED AS IF I'D BEEN SHOT
Last Line: THE DEAN, WITH A NOD, SAID 'OKAY'.
Subject(s): PROCTER, ADELAIDE ANNE (1825-1864);

Seated one day at the organ
I jumped as if I'd been shot,
For the Dean was upon me, snarling
'Stainer — and @3make it hot@1.'

All week I swung Stainer and Barnby,
Bach, Gounod, and Bunnett in A;
I said, 'Gosh, the old bus is a wonder!'
The Dean, with a nod, said 'Okay'.
