ALABAMA by MAUD LINDSAY

First Line: SUN-MAGIC, HILL-MAGIC
Last Line: ALL IN ONE WORD.
Subject(s): ALABAMA;

Sun-magic, hill-magic,
Magic of blossom and bird,
Magic of rivers running --
All in one word.

White magic of cotton,
Red magic of clay,
Black magic of coal fields,
Blue magic of bay,

Magic of memories throbbing
Like the notes of a bell wind-stirred,
Magic of tears and laughter --
All in one word.

Old, old magic,
The mystic call of a land;
Only the heirs to its beauty
Hear it and understand

Sun-magic, hill-magic,
Magic of blossoms and bird,
Magic of rivers running --
All in one word.
