TO ONE UNBORN by ELAINE M. LIVINGSTON

First Line: WITH EYES THAT USE NOT EARTHLY LIGHT OR COLOR
Last Line: MY CHILD'S GRANDCHILD, YET TO BE BORN ON EARTH.
Subject(s): FUTURE LIFE; IMAGINARY CONVERSATIONS; RETRIBUTION; ETERNITY; AFTER LIFE;

With eyes that use not earthly light or color
I see you often, little babe to be.
Will it be months or years before you enter
This mundane school of life with blood of me?

Which one of my descendants here will woo you?
Will you still have my mouth, my eyes, my hair?
Will you arrive while I am still in earth life,
Or after I have journeyed over there?

However, you'll be welcome and beloved
Whenever Karma designates your birth,
To bless us -- first girl in our generation --
My child's grandchild, yet to be born on earth.
