ARE YOU SO POOR? by WINIFRED LUCAS

First Line: ARE YOU SO POOR? BUT IN THE PAST
Last Line: TO FIND, IS LEFT.
Subject(s): HAPPINESS; PAST; TIME; JOY; DELIGHT;

ARE you so poor? But in the past
You have a childhood left asleep;
And joys that last,
In their own moments folded fast;
And songs that their first silence keep.

Are you so poor with none to sing?
Is joy the theft
Of Time beyond remembering?—
Ah then,—the lost, a fairer thing
To find, is left.
