THE DOWNWARD GAZE by FREDERIC ROWLAND MARVIN

First Line: BEHOLD THE EARTH, IF THOU WOULDST SEE
Last Line: SHALL KNOW HE NEVER TARRIES LONG.
Subject(s): CREATION; GOD;

BEHOLD the earth, if thou wouldst see
The smile creative of the Lord;
And, speechless, hearken to her voice,
If thou wouldst hear the heavenly word.

The downward gaze is upward still,
The inward silence sacred song:
The heart that waits in love for God
Shall know He never tarries long.
