SONG by THEODORE MAYNARD

First Line: THE LARK GOES UP AT MORNING
Last Line: ANY MORE THAN HE?

The lark goes up at morning
Into the waiting sky.
So I let loose my spirit: --
Where he goes follow I.

Blooms all the world a lyric;
And he and I a-wing,
Breasting the breath of summer,
Need nothing but to sing.

Lost in the heaven of England,
Beside my native sea --
Why weight my song with thinking
Any more than he?
