O PRECIOUS MUSE by DELLA MCDANIEL

First Line: HAD I, WHEN I WAS YOUNGER
Last Line: A MODEST HOUR WITH YOU.
Subject(s): CREATIVE ABILITY; LIFE; LOVE; MUSES; WRITING & WRITERS; INSPIRATION; CREATIVITY;

Had I, when I was younger,
Known You, and eased the Hunger—
"That which is death to hide",
Before my ebbing tide—
My pen would now be stronger,
For having known you longer.

But as it is not so,
There is nothing I know
To do, but be content
With life for having spent,
When day is almost through,
A modest hour with You.
