CHRISTMAS by CLYDE MCGEE

First Line: O BABE WHO SLEPT ON MARY'S BREAST
Last Line: "THE SWORDS OF WAR AT LAST ARE BROKEN."
Subject(s): BETHLEHEM, PALESTINE; JESUS CHRIST - CHILDHOOD & YOUTH; MARY. MOTHER OF JESUS; WOMEN - BIBLE; VIRGIN MARY;

O Babe who slept on Mary's breast
Amid those humble scenes and lowly,
In Thee all motherhood is blest
And life and love are made more holy.

O Star of Bethlehem, still shine
And be our paths' illumination,
That we may find the Babe divine
And bow in breathless adoration.

O Angel Choir, may we hear,
To hope and faith our hearts awaking,
The joyous anthem, strong and clear,
"The Day of Peace is newly breaking."

O God, who sends the Christmastide
Fulfill Thy word by prophets spoken;
Proclaim through all the nations wide,
"The swords of war at last are broken."
