SAFETY by CLYDE MCGEE

First Line: A CROSS UPLIFTED ON A HILL
Last Line: THEY WENT TO PAY THEIR TITHES AND PRAY.
Subject(s): DREAMS; SLEEP; NIGHTMARES;

A cross uplifted on a hill,
The frenzied mob had wrought its will!
The rulers went home satisfied,
The Dreamer had been crucified.

That night the troubled city slept
In peace. Their temple they had kept
Unharmed. The peril past, next day
They went to pay their tithes and pray.
