THE SIGN by CLYDE MCGEE

Subject(s): ANGELS; FAITH; HEAVEN; JESUS CHRIST - CHILDHOOD & YOUTH; WORSHIP; BELIEF; CREED; PARADISE;

Faithful hearts had long been watching,
Long been waiting for the sign,
Holding fast to word foretelling
There would come a King Divine.

And the air of night was vibrant
With the beat of angels' wings;
There were portents in the heavens!
He was coming! King of Kings!

And the Wise Men and the Shepherds
By a guidance strange were led
Till they stood within a stable
At a lowly manger bed.

There, a little baby sleeping,
And the oxen feeding by,
And a happy mother guarding
Precious gift from the Most High.

There the promise of redemption!
There a wisdom undefiled!
For humanity, a Saviour!
And the sign—a little child!
