WHITE WOUND by MAY MCKEE

First Line: NO LESSER LOVELINESS THAN THIS
Last Line: BEFORE IT SLINKS TO STARTLED SLEEP AGAIN.
Subject(s): KISSES; PAIN; SUFFERING; MISERY;

No lesser loveliness than this—
The rash embroidery of your kiss—
Shall stir this still white wound to sudden pain
Before it slinks to startled sleep again.
