COOL LOAM by LOUISE MOSS MONTGOMERY

First Line: WHEN BENEATH COOL LOAM I LIE
Last Line: EVEN THEN CAN I FORGET?
Subject(s): NATURE;

When beneath cool loam I lie,
Even then can I forget
All of earth's wild witchery
And our Argus-eyed regret?

Will the redolence of flowers
Through the sod come filtering --
Memories of zestful hours
And the poignancy of spring?

When beneath cool loam I lie,
Will we bury our regret?
Lost in nature's mystery,
Even then can I forget?
