TO WHITTIER DEAD by JOHN TROTWOOD MOORE

First Line: AY, SPEED THOU ON, GRAY VOYAGER
Last Line: THROUGH ALL ETERNITY.
Subject(s): DEATH; DEAD, THE;

AY, speed thou on, gray voyager,
But not to a breezeless sea!
Nor shall oblivion claim the soul
That lived and loved in thee.

The heart that throbbed for others,
The mind that thought no wrong,
The lips that always spoke the truth
Through soul of courage strong,

O, these shall live forever,
God gave them, not to die,
But sweetly bloom above thy tomb
Through all eternity.
