DAY AND NIGHT by LEWIS MORRIS (1833-1907)

First Line: NIGHT COMES AND HIDES A WAY
Last Line: NEW LIGHT.
Subject(s): LIFE;

Night comes and hides away
The splendours of the Day;
Death, like a veil, makes dark
Life's spark,

But as upon the sky
Soon as the sunbeams die,
Glimmers some feeble star
Afar,

Life, hidden from our eyes,
Rises on other skies,
And draws from suns more bright,
New light.
