AN OLD MAP by ELIZABETH MORROW

First Line: HOW SMALL AND ARROGANTLY SAFE THAT WORLD
Last Line: DISCLOSED THE CONTINENT OF YOU.
Subject(s): MAPS; MEDITERRANEAN SEA;

How small and arrogantly safe that world
Da Vinci loved and Polo knew!
Mothered by Mediterranean sands it curled
In lazy splendor where a Roman eagle flew.

So stood my heart, an empire of disdain,
Gibraltar, perched above smooth seas of blue,
Until horizons cracked in hurricane
Disclosed the continent of @3you.@1
