DAY IN OCTOBER by MARY PRUDENCE MORTON

First Line: LITTLE DAY LOST OUT OF APRIL
Last Line: NIGHT IS COMING. IT IS A LONG WAY HOME.
Subject(s): SEASONS;

Little day lost out of April,
You will be lonely without your yesterday and tomorrow.

Go away. The fields and woods you gave to summer
Have forgotten you now. No tears could convince them of Spring.

Lighted hours, walking among the trees, shining on the water,
Night is coming. It is a long way home.
