MARCH NIGHT by LUNA CRAVEN OSBURN

First Line: THE WORLD IS BARE
Last Line: THE APPLE-WOOD FIRE'S BRIGHT RED.
Subject(s): MARCH (MONTH); NIGHT; SLEET; BEDTIME;

The world is bare
And bleak tonight.
The sleet on the window pane,
Strikes like the tattoo
Of stabbing thoughts
That beat me like bitter rain.

And why the ache?
A useless thing!
I turn -- 'tis completely fled;
For glows in my heart,
As in my room,
The apple-wood fire's bright red.
