HASBEEN HILL by WILLIAM A. PHELON

First Line: ON THE SLOPE OF HASBEEN HILL
Last Line: ON THE SLOPE OF HASBEEN HILL!
Subject(s): MOUNTAINS; TIME; HILLS; DOWNS (GREAT BRITAIN);

ON the slope of Hasbeen Hill,
Wishing for their vanished youth,
Stand a host of good old stars
(Some of them our best, in truth.)
Not so long since all of them
Held the youthful uphill track—
But the clock of Time, it seems,
Never, never, has turned back!
It's a tough, unpleasant thing
(Gives your very heart a chill)
When you reach the downward grade
On the slope of Hasbeen Hill!
