PITTSBURGH by WILLIAM A. PHELON

First Line: IT'S FIFTEEN YEARS SINCE PITTSBURGH TOWN
Last Line: THEY'LL REALIZE THEIR DREAM!
Subject(s): BASEBALL; PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA; SPORTS; VICTORY;

IT'S FIFTEEN years since Pittsburgh town
Has seen a fluttering flag—
Year after year they've watched and peered
Like an eagle on a crag—
And when they almost reached the goal,
They'd stumble, droop, and lag.
But now the sun shines through the smoke,
With bright and radiant beam—
The box-scores tell the story of
A great and conquering team—
Unless they take a fearful dive,
They'll realize their dream!
