THE OLD-TIMER by WILLIAM A. PHELON

First Line: SHOW ME A CATCHER LIKE EWING--
Last Line: "ABOUT ""THE ADVANCE OF THE GAME""!"
Subject(s): ATHLETES; BASEBALL; SPORTS; SUCCESS;

SHOW me a catcher like Ewing—
Show me a pitcher like Rad—
Show a first baseman like Anson—
Maybe those fellows were bad!
Let's see a shortstop like Jennings,
Show me a slugger like Del—
Show me a base-thief like Stovey,
Show me a player like Kel!
Show me the equal of those birds—
Anyone whom you can name—
Then I'll believe all your tootings,
About "the advance of the game"!
