THE RED AND THE RED AND BLACK by WILLIAM A. PHELON

First Line: WHEN THE BIG RED TEAM AND THE RED AND BLACK
Last Line: BIG RED AND RED AND BLACK!
Subject(s): COLLEGE SPORTS; FOOTBALL;

(@3Upon the annual game between Miami and Cincinnati.@1)

WHEN the Big Red Team and the Red and Black
Are battling hand-to-hand,
And the bellowing shouts and roaring cheers
Go surging through the stand,
Then we know once more the utter thrill
That the Roman Caesars knew
When they saw the reeling battlefield
And the legions crashing through!
For it's up and down, and buck and plunge,
And mass the play on guard—
It's play the game and fight like wolves,
Yet play it clean and hard—
It's hold 'em tight and drive right through,
Then charge and hurl them back—
The same old battle once again—
Big Red and Red and Black!
