AN ENGLISH DRIVE by GEORGIA M. REDPATH

First Line: I LOVE THE ENGLISH ROADS AND LANES
Last Line: BUT SLEEP AT OLD LAND'S END.
Subject(s): ENGLAND; ROADS; ENGLISH; PATHS; TRAILS;

I love the English roads and lanes
With hedgerows on each side;
They shine and glisten when it rains
As English downs we ride.

I pass long rows of houses with
Trim gardens in the back
Swift cars arouse the moorland grouse
To fill the hunter's pack.

I stop at places by the sea
To chat with kindly friend
Clovelly, Bournemouth or Torquay
But sleep at old Land's End.
