HIS FIRST POEM by NAOMI REYNOLDS

First Line: HE LEARNED RHYTHM FROM THE BROOK IN HIS FATHER'S PASTURE
Last Line: WHERE HE WAS OSTENSIBLY COPYING A PROBLEM IN PERMUTATIONS AND COMBINATIONS.
Subject(s): POETRY & POETS;

He learned rhythm from the brook in his father's pasture,
Color, from wisteria and cardinal flowers,
And tenderness, from his love for a yellow cur,
But he wrote his first poem in a dusty classroom,
Where he was ostensibly copying a problem in permutations and combinations.
