QUARRELS by NAOMI REYNOLDS

First Line: DIDN'T WE MEET IN A GARDEN, LOVE
Last Line: THAT IS JOHN'S OR PETE'S OR ABIE'S.
Subject(s): LOVE - BEGINNINGS;

Didn't we meet in a garden, love,
A garden of crimson roses,
Where the sounds of the city are silences,
And the old policeman dozes?

All I can find is a mangy park,
Swarming with dogs and babies
Quarreling over a withered rose,
That is John's or Pete's or Abie's.
