CITIES: 4. ROME by CALE YOUNG RICE

First Line: RAPED OF DECADENT POWER
Last Line: THE SACRED RAGE OF A RIVAL DESPOT THUNDER.
Subject(s): ROME, ITALY; WAR;

Raped of decadent power
By a strong chief of the Black Shirts
Who swept like a Goth down on her
From Tuscan hills,
She gives herself to toil
And glory in his house,
And again feels self-healing
Flow like Tiber through her.
Yet ever, as of old,
Hears, from high St. Peter's,
The sacred rage of a @3rival@1 despot thunder.
