CITIES: 6. TOKIO by CALE YOUNG RICE

First Line: THE MAD DOGS OF WAR
Last Line: TO BEG FROM DOOR TO DOOR.
Subject(s): BUDDHISM; HONOR; PEACE; TOKYO; WAR; BUDDHA; BUDDHISTS;

The mad dogs of war
Have bitten her and she runs
With rabies through the East, --
Her peaceful moat forgotten,
Her willows hung with poems,
Her honor among the nations,
And Buddha forsaken
And left with empty bowl
To beg from door to door.
