SONGS FOR A WINTER FIRE: 3. COUNTRY NIGHTFALL by CALE YOUNG RICE

First Line: THERE ARE NO PATHS WHEN THE SNOW COMES
Last Line: FOR A MAN COME HOME AGAIN.
Subject(s): HOME; NIGHT; SNOW; WIND; BEDTIME;

There are no paths when the snow comes,
No pavement when it goes,
Only a lane from a dark road
And a wood where the wind blows.

There are no lights -- only a lamp
Set at a window pane,
And a woman waiting to make a heaven
For a man come home again.
