BORDER HILLS by LEXIE DEAN ROBERTSON

First Line: MOSAIC OF TOPAZ, EMERALD, AND MAUVE
Last Line: AND AS OLD.
Subject(s): MOUNTAINS; HILLS; DOWNS (GREAT BRITAIN);

MOSAIC of topaz, emerald, and mauve
Lifting to heart-breaking blue,
Across the desert they drift with the sands,
As old as the earth....
And as new.

Out of the grey-brown dust they rise,
Patterned in pastels and gold,
Curving soft beauty to meet the sky,
As young as the dawns....
And as old.
