ANNUNCIATION by EDNA DAVIS ROMIG

First Line: A SOFTER TONGUE THAN STEEPLES HAVE
Last Line: AND RETICENTLY NAMED.

A softer tongue than steeples have
Will be appropriate,
Annunciation quieter
To come when bells abate.

Joy is not that to clamor of,
Nor love to be acclaimed --
But fainter far than elfin horns
And reticently named.
