ABSENCE by RAY CLARKE ROSE

First Line: THE MOCK-BIRD SINGS IN THE DUSKY MORN
Last Line: AND KNOW LOVE BROODS IN YOUR HOME-NEST TOO.
Subject(s): BIRDS; LONGING; LOVE; MOCKINGBIRDS;

The mock-bird sings in the dusky morn
With a cadence sad and a song forlorn;
Yet his soul is glad, for he know that love
Broods fondly in a nest above.

So I, though lone because removed
So far to-night from my own beloved,
Thrill with delight, for I think of you,
And know love broods in your home-nest too.
