MEMENTO by BENJAMIN ROSENBAUM

First Line: WHEN THE LAKE-DRIFT GIVES LANGOROUS MUSIC
Last Line: WHISPER MY NAME.

WHEN the lake-drift gives langorous music,
And clouds are white like the collars of nuns,
Do not forget me.

When the sun spins a glamorous web,
When the face of loneliness looks from the mist. . .
When the wind bird murmurs swift words,
When the breath of an unknown god is on your cheek,
Shape my initials on the air.

When the wind fingers run across the clavichord of water,
Whisper my name.
