SONGS FOR MARCH: FUTILE by BENJAMIN ROSENBAUM

First Line: OVER MARCH FIELDS, THE WILD GEESE FLY
Last Line: IN A DYING SONG.
Subject(s): MARCH (MONTH);

Over March fields, the wild geese fly.
Below a fantastic poplar stands
Lonely, against the morning sky
With gesturing hands.

Instinctively I formed a thought:
How a foolish, scraggy man was long
Singing of things most subtly wrought
In a dying song.
