A PASTEL by DELLE OGLESBEE ROSS

First Line: A GENTLE HILL CLAD ALL IN VELVET GREEN
Last Line: AND JOYOUS LILT OF BIRD CHOIRS, STILL UNSEEN.

A gentle hill clad all in velvet green,
Close 'broidered o'er with dandelions' gold
And violets that loving leaves enfold;
Here gnarled apple trees have gracious grown
With rosy-petaled loveliness full blown,
And now in dainty shower the blossoms fall
Through softly fragrant air, whence comes the call
And joyous lilt of bird choirs, still unseen.
