A MOTHER by PAT SAMPSON

First Line: SHE LISTENS TO YOUR JOYS AND CARES
Last Line: THEY CALL -- AND WISH HER HERE AGAIN.
Subject(s): CAREGIVERS; COMFORT;

She listens to your joys and cares,
She comforts you in pain --
And when you've grown older,
You call, she comes again.

She listens and her heart aches
To see your heart in pain --
And when you've grown older --
You call, she comes again.

She gives her hard-earned money
To comfort childhood pains --
And when you've grown older --
You call -- she comes no more.

Some turn aside to crime and hate --
They think they have no pain --
Still now that they've grown older,
They call -- and wish her here again.
