Through windows open wide, the free air flows The wind's pure breath To freshen stagnant corners, where it blows Its song of Faith; And Phoebus' health inspiring ray Can bring its energizing potency To banish death. Fair open windows greet untrammeled Day No veil between With no diversion of the light's true ray From vision keen; No blurring cloud of doubt, no scar of fear, Can tarnish truth, believe it less sincere Or warp the scene. No cunning fasteners with love abide, For selfish care To batten casements 'gainst misfortune's pride Or anguished prayer. Great loads grow lighter when at love's commands There reach through unbarred windows, eager hands That beg to share. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LETTER TO MAXINE SULLIVAN by HAYDEN CARRUTH FOR REMEMBERING HOW TO LIVE WITHOUT YOU by JAMES GALVIN ODE TO THE BROWN PAPER BAG by JAMES GALVIN ALIENS (TO YOU - EVERYWHERE!
