THE BADLANDS by ELMA SCHEEL

First Line: THE BADLANDS ARE PRICELESS CANVASSES
Last Line: OF YESTERDAY.
Subject(s): HISTORY; PAST; HISTORIANS;

The Badlands are priceless canvasses
On which are spread
The glories of another age;
They are the lockers of Davy Jones,
Where old mysteries are folded down
In lavender and lace;
They are the playgrounds
Of the forgotten ghosts of the past. ...
One must be a connoiseur
To appreciate its masterpieces;
An explorer to unlock its secret depths;
And a clairvoyant to visit with the ghosts
Of yesterday.
