But yesterday I watched the shadows play Across the golden fields. Soft clouds went by With lazy grace; they dappled dreary-gray The sunny hills, and hid the tender sky. Last night the moon chased shadows through the trees; They quivered as they lay upon the ground, And eerie whispers ran along the breeze Where crimson autumn once the summer crowned. I found the blue and gold in yesterday. Today dark shadows drift across my sky And life flows on ... clouds leave my sky dull gray, And listening I hear the night-wind sigh How well for me when shadows dim my light, If I remember MORNING speeds the NIGHT. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CONTRA MORTEM: THE WOMAN'S GENITALS by HAYDEN CARRUTH ALL FOOLS' CALENDER by DONALD (GRADY) DAVIDSON GOSSAMER by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON THE AUDACIOUS by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON TRANSPOSITIONS by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON PRAYER AT SUNRISE by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON STREET CRIES: 6.
