The fearfulness of life fills all my heart With sorrow that hides beauty from my sight . . . The glory of a harvest moon-lit night, The flight of birds that from the woodlands start. Fear pierces me as if it were a dart. I have so little time on earth to stay And yet life baffles me in every way It takes all ecstasy from out my heart. Life matters not; it's courage I must hold, Fortitude will support me all the way. The wraith of fear I will drive fast and far. Now I can watch God's loveliness unfold. Beauty in all her forms will come each day; Fear's grip is gone, my joy it cannot mar. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE, MY LITTLE ONE' by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON PEACE (1) by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON GUNS AS KEYS: AND THE GREAT GATE SWINGS by AMY LOWELL THE DAY AND THE WORK by EDWIN MARKHAM THE LEAVES FIRST by CARL PHILLIPS TO A DEAD MAN by CARL SANDBURG |
