SUMMER SYMPHONY by LAUREL JANE SPITLER

First Line: CLOUDS GATHER, LIGHTNING FLASHES
Last Line: CREATING SUMMER SYMPHONIES.
Subject(s): SUMMER;

Clouds gather, lightning flashes,
Thunder rolls in the west;
A raindrop on the window splashes --
Lo! the world with rain is blessed.

Meadows soon begin to change
From brown to a verdant hue;
Animals gambol on the range,
As life begins anew.

Flowers bloom again once more
In country lanes and nooks;
Crickets chirp on the kitchen floor,
And frogs croak by the brooks.

And throughout all this clamor
Comes the humming of the bees;
And the woodpecker with his hammer,
Creating summer symphonies.
