A GORGEOUS DAY by ESTELLE WEBB THOMAS

First Line: YOU AND I PLANNED A GORGEOUS DAY
Last Line: BUT IN SIMPLY BEING TOGETHER!
Subject(s): RAIN; TOGETHERNESS;

You and I planned a gorgeous day,
But it rained -- do you remember?
And the wind blew chill and the clouds hung gray,
As they will in late November;

So we merely went for a walk, instead,
While the gale rose high and higher,
Then home, with our cheeks and noses red,
To talk and dream by the fire.

But we found we had a gorgeous day,
Perhaps @3because@1 of the weather,
For the glory, it seemed, was not in play
But in simply being together!
