A NOTE ON LIZARDS' FEET by JAMES VAN RENSSELAER

First Line: OUT ON THE DESERT
Last Line: TO GIVE 'EM ALL WINGS!
Subject(s): LIZARDS;

Out on the desert
Where the sands are hot
The lizards don't walk—
They gallop or trot.

And you would, too;
For it ain't so sweet
To have the old sand
A-burning your feet.

Oh, a lizard's feet
Is tender things,
And it wouldn't of hurt God
To give 'em all wings!
