A REDBIRD SINGING by LEOTA BANISTER WARD

First Line: A REDBIRD CAROLED LATE TODAY
Last Line: HIS MELODY TO YOU.
Subject(s): SINGING & SINGERS;

A redbird caroled late today,
And though his form was veiled
By shrouding leaf and waving spray
Of my tall poplar tree,
Each rounded golden note assailed
My soul with rhapsody.

He trilled the language of the sky
Till heaven's western gate
Like to the scarlet singer grew,
And I, transcribing, dedicate
His melody to you.
