EYES by HELEN FIELD WATSON

First Line: WHY IS IT THAT SOME EYES ARE MERELY TWO
Last Line: HAVE HELPED ME TRY. ..... THOUGH THEY MISUNDERSTOOD
Subject(s): EYES; SIGHT;

Why is it that some eyes are merely two,
And others only brown, or gray, or blue?

Some gaze at life in child-like reverence,
And others cringing, bred on self-defense.

While modesty seems lost to eyes which peer
As if one's clothes were scanty or too sheer.

But those which smile as if they thought me good,
Have helped me try. ..... though they misunderstood
