PASQUE FLOWER RETURNS by FANNIE BARRIER WILLIAMS

First Line: OUT ON THE PRAIRIES THE EARTH IS AWAKING
Last Line: PASQUE FLOWER RETURNS!
Subject(s): BEAUTY; FLOWERS;

Out on the prairies the earth is awaking;
Out on the prairies all life lifts its head.
Out on the prairies a glory is breaking—
Pasque Flower returns!
The winter was cold. The desolate wold
Stretched pale and sere to the rim.
The tempest's wild groan, the wind's eerie moan
Sounded a requiem grim.
A requiem? No. Brief respite, then, lo!
Out on the prairies a flood rushes vernal;
Out on the prairies stands Beauty again.
There never failing, resurgence eternal—
Pasque Flower returns!
