HOW CAN I? by IRENE H. WILSON

First Line: I CANNOT SPEND MY LONELINESS UPON IDLE THINGS
Last Line: AND TOMORROW IS FOREVER.
Subject(s): SOLITUDE; LONELINESS;

I cannot spend my loneliness upon idle things
Nor live and send my heart away from me,
For living without love is life malformed
And idle pleasures meaningless.

I cannot face tomorrow without you
Nor bear the sorrow of just remembering,
For memory spurns the soul with thorns most sharp
And tomorrow is forever.
