BEING A HERMIT by ANNETTE WYNNE

First Line: I'LL BE A HERMIT, IN THIS TREE
Last Line: BUT MOTHER'S CALLING NOW FOR TEA!
Subject(s): CHILDREN; SUMMER; WISDOM; CHILDHOOD;

I'LL be a hermit, in this tree
Up high I'll live and always be
Quite, quite alone to spend the day
At thinking things with folks away.

I'll think and think and grow quite wise
About all things in earth and skies—
The things in books I'd like to know;
The wisest person I shall grow.

It's fun to be a hermit—you
Don't need the things that others do,
And so, a hermit I shall be—
But Mother's calling now for tea!
