AD ASTRA: 115 by CHARLES WHITWORTH WYNNE

First Line: AND SORROW SERVES NOT ONLY TO REFINE
Last Line: SHOWS GRIEF TO HAVE BEEN GOD'S HALLOWING MEANS OF GRACE.
Subject(s): GRIEF; LOVE; SORROW; SADNESS;

And Sorrow serves not only to refine,
For Love leaps up with tenfold sympathy
To mitigate the suffering and the sin
That are a part of the divine decree,
In that foreshadowing of the life to be—
Where Pity with her love-illumined face
Shows Grief to have been God's hallowing means of Grace.
