AD ASTRA: 123 by CHARLES WHITWORTH WYNNE

First Line: BEWILDER'D 'MID THE CLASH AND THE RECOIL
Last Line: SINCE HE WHO WOULD SUBSIST MUST LIVE BY STRIFE!
Subject(s): LIFE;

Bewilder'd 'mid the clash and the recoil
Of millions battling for the prize of place,
Man, blinded by the bigotry of toil,
O'erthrows the starry ladder of the race.
The struggle for existence doth efface
The self-denying ordinance of life,
Since he who would subsist must live by strife!
