AD ASTRA: 149 by CHARLES WHITWORTH WYNNE

First Line: THE SCEPTIC WARNS US THAT THE CHRISTIAN CREED
Last Line: UNTIL WE LAY THEM AT OUR MASTER'S FEET?
Subject(s): CHRISTIANITY; SELF-LOVE;

The Sceptic warns us that the Christian creed
Is but the love of Self, in form disguised,
That could we analyse each noble deed,
Some selfish motive ever it avized.
Is Virtue by such sophistry chastised?
Are not our greatest actions incomplete
Until we lay them at our Master's feet?
